CAROLINA PIMENTEL LUCAS
BBA 2018
Carolina Pimentel Lucas
1) This year on UBS has been the best year so far! I have found myself wanting to give more to the Schulich community. I believe my past involvement demonstrates serene dedication and I would love to further that commitment by supporting the school community I am a part of. I would like to continue to be a role model and a leader that other students may look up to and feel comfortable bringing their concerns to. I love Schulich and it would be a wonderful experience and opportunity to step up to the next level of student government and be a part of the new changes and decisions that will take place within the school – changes that require an acute level of responsibility, organization, respect, and collaboration. My passion for helping others is boundless and I know I can be an asset in making great things happen for the student body.
2) Having been on council this year as VP Internal, I was able to learn a lot about the school, our students, and our collective needs. Throughout the last 3 years I have volunteered for school events and activities where I could build on my leadership skills such as: fall campus day, building tours, high school visits (where I successfully promoted Schulich, and confidently answered any questions the students had), Dean’s Reception for the 2019’s & 2020’s, and Schulich O-Week 2015 as a frosh leader for the incoming class of 2019. My strong passion and dedication of our school has pushed me to become a more consistently active individual within the Schulich community. My prior engagements have given me the opportunity to meet many people and interact with people in a way that allowed me to further my communication and interpersonal skills – an imperative skill as President.
I am a very outgoing, organized, and determined individual – I highly value dedication and commitment. Given my personal characteristics, I feel that my prior experience would not only be beneficial to the student body, but would also allow me to effectively handle and execute the responsibilities that this position entails.
3) I will act as a diversity liaison amongst students. I will tackle and promote inclusivity within the Schulich community by creating a welcoming environment that is open to all students – whether it be hobbies, academia, personal goals, and all areas of school life. I will address and improve organization between student bodies by working with different departments to implement a modern database of pertinent information for students, allowing for better communication and, ultimately, accelerating student success - through new communications systems, increased social presence, and increased external opportunities for Schulich students. This year I will also work with the team to create strong mental health initiatives that serve the student body – without stigma. As an individual experiencing the weight of mental illness, I feel that I am obligated to address the concerns and needs of those going through the same or similar troubles. I will help with the many apprehensions that students may have – students who may be anxious or embarrassed to talk about the hardships and struggles that come with mental illnesses. With conviction, I aim to make Schulich a safer space for every individual – free of judgment.

4) Dear students, my campaign will promote inclusivity within the student body by creating a diverse business-oriented community where everyone is comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas without any discrimination. I would like to give everyone a chance to contribute feelings and ideas when addressing student concerns and needs, whether it is someone to talk to, extra help on courses, or simply trying to acquire school essentials. I would like to help make the university experience less stressful while encouraging student success. I am looking to work closely with fellow executive members of UBS, students, and school staff to create a campus environment that is positive and encourages student growth – and environment that instills a passion for higher education and for all walks of life.
